A couple of years ago I played a show at Acoustic Cafe with Blue. We shared the bill with our dear friend, Sean Morrissey and two of my students, Katie and Jordan. At the time they were probably 12 and 11 years old. They performed a few songs they wrote and wowed the audience with their unique sound. At the end of the show I heard myself say to Sean "I used to think that I was put on this earth to sing and compose, but now I feel that the real reason I'm here is to help others sing and write." I can't help but think of it now.
I haven't been performing much these days, except for a few fun visits to Ken Safety's Open Mic at CJ Sparrow, my home away from home for more than ten years (hard to believe)! Instead, I've been spending my time teaching voice to the awesome, young rock band Kicking Daisies and my talented, smart students. Katie, Jordan and I are starting work on their demo with Gerald Goode acting as producer, and I couldn't be happier. Following your bliss is simple; uncovering it, year by changing year, is not always easy.
Happy Autumn to you all! Mel

Hi! Yes, my name is Melissa Mulligan and yes, the very same person who is the vocal coach for Duran, Caitlin and Carly of Kicking Daisies! I spend a lot of time with Ben too, especially when I run their acoustic rehearsals! Yes - it's really me!

Facebook asks "What are you thinking?" mypsace asks "How are you feeling?" If I give in and start to Twitter it will ask me "What are you doing?" Status updates are making blogs obsolete.
But since you're here and I haven't done this in several months:
I'll be posting some new music soon (to myspace and facebook) from the upcoming new album! All tracks are being done with Collin Tilton at Bar None Studios in Northford. It's great to be in the studio regularly.
Speaking of which, I am the proud vocal coach of an amazing band called Kicking Daisies. Check them out if you haven't already: www.myspace.comkicking/daisies, facebook and youtube. I spend a lot of time with them in the studio and rehearsals as we get these amazing kids ready to release their first album and embark on a summer tour.
Lots of love, XOXO MM
